Yard facilities

Ulstein Verft is a compact and complete ship yard with excellent facilities, including dock hall, to secure the best possible quality on every process in the outfitting, integration and finishing of new builds, ship repairs and conversions. All assets are in walking distance from the yard administration offices.

The Shipbuilding area has 100 years of experience in shipbuilding, the latter years with a particular focus on vessels for offshore oil and gas, offshore renewables and passenger/cruise transport. Ulstein Verft and Ulstein Elektro Installasjon have naval experts in the areas of HVAC (ventilation), accommodation, stability, machinery, propulsion, hull structure, outfitting, electrical installation. The service and aftermarket services in this area include barge transport and crane lifts for assignments outside Ulstein Verft. On the Ulstein Verft premises the services include conversions, repair, antifouling, painting, pipe production, maintenance, upgrades, steel work, welding, docking, mooring, storing of maritime equipment. Ulstein Verft is situated in Ulsteinvik close to the city of Ålesund, Norway.

Dry dock and dock hall

The dock hall at Ulstein Verft measures 140 m (l) by 55 m (b). The inner dock has a length of 110 m, and the dock hall gate can be opened to include the outside dry dock. Total dock length is 225 m. Two main travelling cranes inside the dock hall can perform 500-tonne tandem lifts.

Sandblasting and Priming

We offer prepaint surface treatment of hulls and hull parts, including sandblasting and waterblasting. The painting process is performed in the controlled indoor environment of our dockhall.

Ulstein Verft specializes in heavy lift and transportation services. Our flexible equipment solves a wide array of lifting and transportation challenges on land and at sea.

Mobilisation and demobilisation

Ulstein Verft offers excellent logistics for effective mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment and tools for vessels such as subsea vessels, anchor handling tug supply vessels and cable laying vessels.

Transportation on site

Ulstein Verft has two multiwheelers which, when combined, have a total capacity of handling large sections exceeding 600 tonnes. The mobile crane, Terex 2800-1 has a maximum capacity of 600 tonnes. Trucks and several quays and dock cranes are available.

Ship repair and conversions

Our ship yard delivers high quality ship repair and conversions. With a covered dock hall and all service workshops in close vicinity, the work is carried out in an efficient manner. Close collaboration between naval architects and the project team secure cost effectiveness, quick responses and complete conversions.
