Winner of Statoil Challenge

ULSTEIN's proposal for Statoil's innovation campaign, the Hywind Installation Challenge, is announced as one of the winners, together with MODEC and Atkins.

Our proposal, the ULSTEIN Hywindlifter, is based on our Windlifter system, a simple mechanical system for single lift installation of wind turbines for bottom fixed foundations. It has been adopted to work with the floating Hywind foundation. Collaboration with Statoil is now initiated to mature the three winning ideas further.

According to Statoil, competition was tough with many innovative concepts, making the job of selecting the winning innovators very challenging for the evaluation team. The proposals received were evaluated, and Statoil decided to go further with three.
