Color Hybrid

The ‘Color Hybrid’ is nearing completion, and the interior illustrations give an insight in how this vessel will appear when she starts sailing. The vessel will provide a great travel experience and set a new standard for comfort.

The plug-in hybrid vessel, 'Color Hybrid', was launched from the dock hall at Ulstein Verft on 14 April 2019 and positioned quayside. The vessel is now undergoing completion work prior to her delivery.

The progress of the 'Color Hybrid' ship construction in spring 2019 has been steady, and the most visible is the painting process. The vessel is now getting prepared to be launched from the dock hall.

The completion of the ‘Color Hybrid’ plug-in hybrid vessel is well underway at Ulstein Verft. Now is the time for painting, installations and electrical work. Present at the yard is Color Line’s site team, counting eight people. They will all have their work on the vessel after her delivery.

On Thursday, 15 November, Color Line and Ulstein Verft marked the construction start-up on the world's largest plug-in hybrid ship, the 'Color Hybrid'. The hull is placed in the dock hall, and several hundred yard workers are now busy with the ship’s completion before hand-over next summer.

The hull of the 'Color Hybrid', Color Line's next flag ship that will be servicing Sandefjord-Strömstad, has arrived Ulstein Verft for completion.

The construction of the 'Color Hybrid' reached an important milestone 16 April which marked the assembly start of the 14 large blocks at Crist in Gdynia, Poland. The environmental friendly ship will be the world’s largest battery-hybrid ship when entering into service between Sandefjord and Strømstad in June next year.

The steel cutting ceremony of the Ulstein Verft's yard number 311, the plug-in hybrid ferry for Color Line, was held on Friday 14 July. SVP Marine & Technical, Jan Helge Pile, at Color Line, performed the first cut. The ferry will be completed in 2019.

'Color Hybrid', the world’s largest plug-in hybrid vessel, was recently delivered from our yard.

The Color Line plug-in hybrid vessel, to be built at Ulstein Verft, has been shortlisted for the Next Generation Ship Award. With a focus on innovation, the Next Generation Ship Award honours the most promising design for ships that will be at sea in the coming decade.

Color Line and Ulstein sign a firm contract on construction of the world’s largest plug-in hybrid vessel. The environmentally sound ship will be servicing Sandefjord – Strömstad from summer 2019. Ulstein won the contract in competition with several other yards.

Color Line and Ulstein Verft have today agreed on a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the construction of the largest plug-in hybrid vessel of the world.
