Building the Lindblad vessels

On 30 September 2021, Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. took delivery of the ‘National Geographic Resolution’ from Ulstein Verft. The vessel is now ready to set off for her inaugural polar voyage exploring Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands in November 2021.

The sea trial of the National Geographic Resolution has been successfully carried out over the weekend. The sea trial commenced Friday and the vessel returned to the shipyard, Ulstein Verft, in the morning of 6 September for the final construction phase before she goes for her first expedition cruise in Antarctica.

Lindblad Expeditions and Aurora Expeditions are two of the top ten winners of best adventure cruise lines in 2021.

The construction of the Yno 316 newbuild, an expedition cruise vessel for Lindblad Expeditions, is progressing at Ulstein Verft. After having been hidden in the dock hall since November, the vessel is being finalised for the test period and sea trials. Now is the phase of exterior painting.

On 11.11.2020, Lindblad Expeditions' next polar expedition cruise vessel, the 'National Geographic Resolution', was towed in to the dock hall at Ulstein Verft.

On 22 October 2020, the hull of the ‘National Geographic Resolution’, a polar expedition cruise vessel for Lindblad Expeditions, arrived at the Ulstein Verft shipyard in Norway. Comprehensive outfitting work will now commence.

Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. and Ulstein Group celebrated the keel laying of Lindblad’s second polar new build at the CRIST shipyard in Gdynia, Poland. The occasion also served as the official naming ceremony of the vessel. National Geographic Resolution was named to honour the legendary explorer James Cook.

Lindblad Expeditions Holdings Inc. announces that it has signed an agreement with Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Ulstein to build a new polar vessel. The new ship is scheduled for delivery from Ulstein Verft in 2021. The vessel is sister ship to 'National Geographic Endurance', which is under construction.

The first X-BOW® polar vessel for Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc., was launched into her right element on Saturday 7 December 2019. ​Due to Polar Class 5 (PC5), the ship can venture far into polar areas. The X-BOW® secures a comfortable transit for her 126 passengers across harsh stretches of sea.

Today, the workers at Ulstein closely followed the hull arrival of the polar expedition cruise vessel ‘National Geographic Endurance’. This is the first X-BOW® polar vessel to be built at the yard. The Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. vessel will now undergo comprehensive outfitting work.

On 17 March 2018, Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc., a global provider of expedition cruises and adventure travel experiences, and Ulstein Group, Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer, celebrated the keel laying of Lindblad’s first polar new build.

The steel cutting ceremony of the first polar new build in the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet was carried out on Friday morning, 5 January 2018. The vessel, yard number 312 at Ulstein Verft, will be ready for her first expeditions in 2020.

The world’s foremost expedition vessel, designed by Ulstein, will be the first polar new build in the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet.​ The ship will be built at Ulstein Verft and is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2020, with an option for two additional ships to be delivered in subsequent years.
