Ship history

Delivered on 15 May 2002. The vessel was ordered as a platform supply vessel, but during the ship construction there were several changes including a large crane, a moonpool, DP3 class and more equipment. Handling such major changes can be challenging, but the yard managed to deliver the vessel on the contracted date.

2016: 'Normand Mermaid' has served numerous clients, and is a versatile and efficient subsea intervention vessel. The vessel has been in Ocean Installer’s fleet since April 2013 and has been utilized for a large variety of offshore work tasks including dredging, umbilical lay, RFO operations and general subsea intervention work. By use of the mid-mounted moonpool, a module handling system (MHS) can be mobilized, or the moonpool can be used for deployment of umbilicals, test hoses and other equipment.
2017: Still active - IMO 9249348. Flag: Douglas, Isle of Man, UK

From June 2017, Deep Sea Supply, Solstad Shipping and Farstad Shipping became one joint shipowning company, from 1 October 2018 the joint company is named Solstad Offshore.

Nov 2021: Solstad Offshore ASA has won a contract by Fugro Netherlands Marine BV. The company has chartered the Normand Mermaid for a period of 16 months firm. Normand Mermaid is now being characterised as a medium-size construction support vessel (CSV). The contract will commence in December 2021.

Sept 2022: Solstad Offshore has entered into a new contract for Normand Mermaid. The award is in direct continuation of its current contract with the present client for the vessel. The new contract will keep the vessel fully utilized to the second quarter of 2025, with one optional year thereafter. The vessel will continue performing geotechnical operations within the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors.
