Kirk Du is marketing and sales director for Ulstein in China. With education and experience both from China and Norway, he has used his background to combine the best of two cultures - the Ulstein quality and the Chinese efficiency.
The late Idar Ulstein, youngest son of Martin Ulstein who founded Ulstein Mek. Verksted, formed the modern Ulstein Group. He started to work in Ulstein as a 14-year-old after his father's sudden death in 1948, and was a central part of the company until he died in 2012. Here's his story.
Solveig Erikstad is a pioneer, being one of the first female welders at Ulstein. Employed in 1974, she got recruited through an ad in the local newspaper, aimed at housewives. One of the baits was free kindergarten. When retiring in 2003, she had been at Ulstein for 29 years.
