Fun activities on the Foldereid ferry - 1959

The guests on the Yno 13, 'Foldereid', had great fun on deck as the ferry left the yard for her delivery excursion to Geiranger in 1959. One of the participants in the fun is the chair of the board, Mrs Inga Ulstein. Almost 60 years later, the ferry is still active.

The car/passenger ferry 'Foldereid', yard number 13, was delivered from Ulstein Mek. Verksted A/S in 1959 to ship owner Ragnar Brækkan, Namsos. In the video (above) the yard manager Magnulf Ulstein changes the ship's flag from the Ulstein flag to the shipowner's.The costs of the ferry was NOK 350.000, and 'Foldereid' was put to work in the connection Kongsmoen-Teplingan. The ferry is currently named Queen, and is in freight transport in the skerries of Stockholm (Sweden) for Waxholmbolaget. The ferry had a new main engine installed in 2016.
